This superb 1971 work of investigative journalism is the book that then Venezualan leader Hugo Chavez gave President Barack Obama. Seven years ago this month, I finished reading Open Veins of Latin America: Five Centuries of the Pillage of a Continent, by Eduardo Galeano. ![]()
